And in some areas you are required to have a phone number if you want broadband Internet service such as DSL. We think that is just wrong, and there is no technical requirement or need for that demand.

Let me explain our plan as an example. We are in Missouri and we have no Embarq home phone bill. We have a California phone number with fax service. For that we pay $14.95 per month. We also have an Alabama phone number, which costs us $8.95 per month. (We have business interests and family in both locations.)
To reduce costs we have no home phone service, saving us $32 plus taxes and surcharges of $14, for a total of $46 per month. Fixed costs must be reduced or eliminated.
Many households do the same because eliminating standard AT&T, Sprint, or BellSouth home telephone service saves $40 per month or more. Proper family budgeting is more important today than ever before.
